St. Louis's Own Beatle Bob

Sleater-Kinney's last show
at Lollapalooza 2006 in Chicago... and, yes,
St. Louisians, that is Beatle Bob in the
background. I think I'm the only one who noticed him.

Or maybe not...

Wheaties Thinks On The Box With Cardinals

October 31, 2006

NEW YORK -- If someone would have asked Chris Carpenter, pitcher with the St. Louis Cardinals, where he was going next after his team defeated the Detroit Tigers to win the World Series, he could have said, “The cover of the Wheaties box.”

General Mills, Minneapolis, will issue a special-edition commemorative package honoring the 2006 World Series champion Cardinals with an 18-ounce Wheaties featuring Carpenter on the front and an image of Busch Stadium and Carpenter on the back. The box will be available nationally in November. Marketing will include regional print and FSIs.

This marks the first Wheaties box appearance for Carpenter. Among other all-time Cardinals who have appeared on Wheaties boxes are Paul and Dizzy Dean, Pepper Martin, Joe Medwick, Johnny Mize, Marty Marion, Stan Musial, Ozzie Smith and Albert Pujols.

This is my dream Wheaties Box...

.6 They'll play "CELEBRATION" from Steph's iPod

[An excerpt of an email from Katie Reap. The punctuation is hers.]
Ok - so tonight's THE night!!! I still think we should go to Feed The Beast for the following reasons..
1. Owned by a Cardinal fan
2. The back room is awesome and there's a HUGE tv
3. They will play the sound instead of crappy bar music
4. There will be Cardinal fans there.
5. They have provel cheese - IMOS STYLE PIZZA!!!

Hi Fi Fo Fum... I smell the blood of a Detroitian.

2006 Time Capsule

On my birthday this year (the 35th one I've celebrated) I asked my friends, co-workers and family members not to give me more crap from ENJOY but instead make a prediction of what they thought I'd (and they'd) be doing in 35 years when we were--yikes--70.

My intention was to bury it in a time capsule just like I did my Luke Skywalker action figure nearly 30 years ago.

But I started thinking... where could I bury a time capsule that I could be certain could be found again? I've had 11 different residences in as many years. So who I am to think I'm going to be in the same state, let alone city, in the next 35 years!

I decided instead to create this as a virtual time capsule on the internet. I will register the domain for the next 35 years and then go from there.

Didn't get to give a prediction on what we'll be doing in 35 years? Not a problem. Add it as a "comment" to this post.

Here's to 2041--let's hope we all make it.
