I met Megan in 1990 while walking across Tulane's campus. Mia, my college roommate, knew Megan and her friend Jocelyn from high school at St. Joe. I distinctly remember two things about the first time I met Megan 1) that she was wearing a very preppy striped J. Crew rugby and 2) that I liked her immediately.
Megan proceeded to pledge the sorority I was in (Gamma Phi Beta) and became my "Pledge Daughter/Son". Yes, (although actually not very androgynous) Megan, was often mistaken for a man and received the wonderful nickname of Bill. Bill Miller. Perfect.
I was fortunate enough to pick-up my friendship with Megan in Chicago, post-college. We've grown, changed (she's shrunk!), laughed, cried, and fallen together. We've shared many single beds. Many hot dogs. And probably an Irish fellow or two.
I defy you to try and think of Megan and not hear her infectious giggle in your head.
Bill/Meat/Meggers/Billy is a gem.
I love her like a son, but she'll always be my dot.
